About Us

Superior Electric has been a part of the mid-Michigan electrical contracting community since 1950. The company was started humbly by William “Bill” Hull and his wife Viola, in their Lansing, Michigan home. Bill and Viola converted a small bedroom to an office and used their garage as the warehouse. With only a few employees, the company focused mainly on residential work.

As the business grew, Superior Electric changed its main focus to larger commercial projects, while continuing to do some residential work. As the need for good quality trained employees grew, the company joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union (IBEW) #665 to enable the company to hire the excellent people needed for the continued success of the company. The company was incorporated in 1966 as Superior Electric of Lansing, Inc. When the growing business needed a larger office and warehouse, the company moved its operation to its current location. As the business continued to expand over the years, so did the number and scope of the jobs; the number of employees; the corporate offices and warehouses were also enlarged.

Bill Hull was the active owner/manager of the business until his death in 1974. Viola Hull maintained the business operations until 1980 when she sold the company to several key employees. Under the new management of the employee/owners, the company continued to expand and thrive by carrying on Bill Hull’s legacy. The key employees, who purchased the business in 1980, are semi-retired, and the business is supervised by a new generation of employees who are efficiently managing the company.

Superior Electric of Lansing, Inc. has grown from its humble beginnings in a home office and garage to a multi-million dollar company by always having “superior” employees, tools and materials, which results in “superior” services to our greatest asset – our customers.
